The revival of Survival-horror

The Silent Hill franchise is still in my opinion the dominator in the Survival-Horror scene. Its true the latest parts are more focused on action and survival than the horror aspects, but there’s hope.

About a month ago there was a demo released on the Playstation 4 store called ”P.T.”. No one knew what to expect from it because the description was as vague as can be. First thing you notice when you start this badboy up is the atmosphere and the graphics. It almost looks real, and the subtle sound effects and things happening in-game really give you the chills. When you reach further into the demo it gets clear that this game has some things in common with a certain game. A changing scenery, guilt being forced upon you through things happening in the game and feeling the most disturbed you will ever do in a game? It screams two words. Silent and Hill.

Well what do you know this demo is the playable teaser (hence the title P.T.) for the upcoming game ”Silent Hills” and let me tell you this, it’s back in full force.

The game is being directed by Hideo Kojima (creator of the legendary storyline of the Metal Gear Solid games) and Guillermo del Toro (creator of Pan’s Labyrinth , godlike movie). These dudes know how to set the mooooooood. I’m a seasoned horror veteran but this is the first time i felt nervous when i was holding the controller. Seriously if you own a Playstation 4 it’s your duty to download this demo, play it alone at midnight in the dark with the volume high. I can guarantee you’ll be squealing like a pig. Not much details have been given on this game except it stars Norman Reedus (Daryl from The Walking Dead) and it’s gonna be scary. Really scary.

This is the new trailer from the Tokyo Game Show a few days ago.
